BLDNG.hub

The data platform behind smarter buildings

One platform collects, analyzes, and visualizes all your building's data in real time. BLDNG.hub is the engine behind all our solutions.

The core of all our products and solutions

At the center of all data traffic, visualization, and resource management sits BLDNG.hub. The product itself is an in-house data platform and analytics tool. It connects the data sources in the building to every BLDNG product and solution.

Whichever solution you use - workplace analytics, people counting, the app, or the info screen - it's BLDNG.hub that collects, processes, and presents the data. It's the brain of the system.

Dashboards and reports

The web-based side of the platform is easy to understand and has role-based access control。

Standard reports show occupancy over time, utilization by zone, floor, and building, heatmaps, and trend diagrams. Users can build their own filters and views, and see data by hour, day, week, month, or year over year.

This is where workplace analytics and people counting turn into concrete insight you can act on.

Cloud-based and scalable architecture

Built on Microsoft Azure, a modern microservices architecture, and open standards - for flexibility, security, and future scale.

Microservices & open standards

Built on Eclipse IoT (Hono) for flexibility and scale - no proprietary lock-in.

Multiple protocols

Receives data via MQTT, HTTP, and AMQP - directly from sensors, via gateways, or from external systems.

Authentication

Every device is authenticated with certificates or client keys before data is accepted - clear trust boundaries.

Semantic normalization

Incoming data is translated into one common data model and stored as digital twins - regardless of sensor type or vendor.

Data in and data out

BLDNG.hub is a hub: it receives data from many sources and can forward structured real-time data on to other systems.

Data in

Sources the platform receives data from

  •   Sensors and gateways
  •   BMS / building management systems
  •   Video conferencing equipment and booking systems
  •   Power, gas, and water meters
  •   Third-party data providers

Data out

You own the raw data — and can export it

  •   Webhooks
  •   Kafka
  •   Azure Event Hub
  •   AWS Kinesis Firehose
  •   MQTT & BYOD (Bring Your Own Database)

The raw data is owned by you, the customer. See our sensor hardware and how we connect to your building systems.

Continuous monitoring and data quality

All data sources are continuously monitored. If the data flow from any source drops, BLDNG.hub alerts immediately — so you can always trust the numbers.

In 2025 the platform processed over 1 TB of sensor data every single day, and all data is stored permanently. That's a level of robustness and scale few others can match.

GDPR and data security

BLDNG.hub is designed with privacy as a founding principle. We don't collect personal data, only anonymized events like movement, presence, people counting, and indoor climate. The system never records who is in a room, only that activity has taken place.

Analyzed data is presented only in aggregate, and access is controlled through secure authentication and the customer's own identity systems. As a Telenor company, we meet all data security and GDPR requirements.
